Exceptional quality, Natural ingredients, Protecting oceans
Neptune Rum was founded in 2017 in Cheltenham, UK with a focus on producing truly exceptional quality rums. Inspired by the Roman God Neptune, god of water and seas, and with a passion for rum, quality and the world oceans, Neptune Rum was born.
Neptune Rum Barbados Gold was the first rum created, and due to its focus on exceptional quality it soon became the world’s most awarded rum of 2018 and 2019 and earning its place amongst the world’s greatest rums.
Neptune Rum is focussed on sustainably producing the highest quality natural rums and drinks, and supporting the clean-up of the world’s oceans.

Neptune Rum takes its names from the Roman God Neptune, god of waters and seas and controller of winds, storms and horses.
Neptune controlled all waters, from the smallest streams and springs to the seas. Neptune made the oceans his domain and lived in a golden palace beneath the waves with his consort Salacia and his loyal sons.
Neptune could also summon winds and storms. By roiling the seas and delivering crushing waves, Neptune sunk many ships and sent many sailors to watery graves. While he was truly mighty in his own domain, Neptune’s power waned the further he was from the seas.
As a superstition for safe travels, sailors used to pay homage to Neptune by offering him rum overboard before their sea voyages.
The King Neptune Ceremony or Equator crossing ceremony is a centuries age-old tradition on all types of ships – including cruise ships. When the ship sails across the equator, the crew pay homage to King Neptune for safe passage. New crew who are crossing for the first time, are called ‘pollywogs’ and have to complete the ritual to become ‘shellbacks’.
Neptune’s trident also features on the Barbados flag, where Neptune Rum Barbados Gold is produced. The trident represents the countries connection with the sea with each tip symbolising one of the principles of democracy, the government of, for and by the people.
We only seek exceptional in everything we do.
